Local sixth-graders place 3rd at DakotaDome tourney The Edward Jones team placed third in the sixth grade "B" division in the Dakota Dome tournament Dec. 13-14. They defeated Gill Hauling from South Sioux City by a score of 48-29. The second game was won by the Running Raiders of Sioux City by a score of 39-18.
The Edward Jones team came back to win their final game against Centerville by a score of 49-24.
The weekend scoring was led by Cole Andre with 45 points followed closely by Aaron Steele with 31 points, Garritt Smith-Keller had 21, Michael Walker had 12, and Nick Anglin and Tim Tigert each had 4 points.
Team rebounds were led by Smith-Keller with 31, Walker brought down 17, Anglin snagged 13, Steele grabbed 10, Andre snatched eight, and Tigert brought down seven. Steele led the team in take-aways with seven, Tigert and Smith-Keller each had five steals, Andre took three, and Walker and Anglin each contributed two.
Team assists were led by Steele and Andre.
Highlights of the weekend included Smith-Keller with a double double in the third game. He scored 15 points and brought down 13 rebounds. Steele went 8 for 12 from the charity stripe for the weekend. Single game personal best scoring came from Andre with 21 points, Steele with 18 points and Walker with 5.
