Special day well received Appreciation and Santa's coming has long been a tradition in Wakonda at Christmas time.
This year a new feature was added. In the spirit of giving and because there was a need for donated blood in this area, the Siouxland Bloodmobile was also present on Saturday, Dec. 20 to draw blood on the special day.
Due to several other events in the community and surrounding area, the turnout may not have been as large as otherwise possible. However, there were nearly as many people who were served pancakes, sausageand beverages, as well as the children greatly enjoying Santa and his sacks of candy.
The many luckywinners whoreceived prizes on the half hour drawings were also pleased with the generous gifts that were supplied by various merchantsand business people. If you were one of the lucky winners and as yet have not picked up your gift, it is being held for you at First Premier Bank.
Blood donor personnel were satisfied and pleased to have as many units drawn as they did. They also expressed the hope that this might become an annual event.
The Wakonda Community Club committee in charge of the special event would like to take this means of saying "thank you" to all of the volunteers who in any way to took part, also all of those who contributed in any was as well as to all who came.
Thanks also to all who renewed or became new members of the Community Club. If you as yet have not joined please stop in at the bank and pay the $5 for dues. It will be greatly appreciated and you will be supporting your town and community.
