VHS students receive honors Cori Bazemore and B.J. Campbell have been selected as the Vermillion High School November Students of the Month. These seniors are being honored for their academic and extra-curricular achievements, and they will receive a $100 scholarship from First National Bank-Vermillion.
Bazemore's faculty nomination noted her excellent class work ethic and participation. Her list of activities are extensive including the Native American Youth Society, art club, one-act plays, mentoring, softball, Healthy Kids/Healthy Community, and the Red Road Gathering.
Her college plans are to initially attend The University of South Dakota with the intent to eventually transfer to Dartmouth College in New Hampshire. Her parents are Beth Todd-Bazemore and Jay Bazemore.
According to his faculty endorsement, Campbell's "confidence shines, and he always helps boost others' confidence as well." This confidence has brought him numerous honors in baseball, track, football and student council.
Additionally, he was on the VHS Homecoming Royalty and was a Boys State alternate. His mother is Lori Whitman and he plans to major in sports medicine in college.
