VHS varsity rolls over South Sioux City

VHS varsity rolls over South Sioux City by Jim Prosser The Vermillion Tanagers rolled over South Sioux City 55-37 in boys' basketball Dec. 19 at South Sioux City.

"We did a nice job of moving the ball offensively," said Vermillion varsity coach Jason Huska. "We got good shots all night. Defensively, we allowed too many offensive rebounds for them. Once we started getting rebounds, we were able to pull away. It's a good win on the road for us."

The Tanagers led 10-9 after the opening period, led 29-21 after the second quarter, and then led 41-27 after the third quarter.

The Vermillion varsity now has a record of 2-2, while SSC fell to 0-5.

The Vermillion varsity hit 6 of 15 three-point tries and connected on 7 of 17 free throw attempts. The Tanagers connected on 21 of 55 from the field, while SSC was 13 of 46 from the field. SSC connected on 6 of 20 three-point tries and made 5 of 7 from the line.

The Vermillion varsity held a 38-26 edge on the boards.
