Centerville Tornadoes hand Warriorettes their third loss by Amber Skjonsberg All pumped up and raring to go, the Wakonda Warriorettes were ready for the big game against arch rivals the Centerville Tornadoes.
But on Tuesday, Jan. 13, the Warriorettes displayed poor shooting against the Tornadoes to drop their second loss to them; 49-63
Within the first quarter the Tornados more than doubled the home team's score of 6, but by half time the Warriorettes were right behind them. Nikki Johnston, with 17 points made throughout the game, out-shot both teams. Another senior from Wakonda, Lindsay Nelson, made a total of 13 points in efforts to beat the Tornadoes.
Although the Warriorettes' will to win was great, their undeniable teamwork and energy just wasn't enough to beat the Centerville Tornadoes.
The Wakonda JV won against their opponents, 30-16, winning their first game. Jessica Peterson had 4 points and six steals.
