Gov. Rounds promotes support groups Gov. Mike Rounds is encouraging South Dakotans to get involved with military support groups all across the state, and the National Guard's Family Readiness Groups (FRG) are offering opportunities to do so.
"In 2003, South Dakota mobilized more than 2,500 National Guard and Reserve soldiers from 25 different units in 30 different communities in South Dakota," said Gov. Rounds. "These support groups are an important aspect of keeping up morale and providing family, friends and service members with encouragement during these trying times."
South Dakota has groups that meet on a regular basis to provide a network of communication among family members, a chain of command and a resource.
Family Readiness Group meetings are for everyone and are open to all branches of the service.
FRG Meetings are held in: Aberdeen; Belle Fourche; Brookings; Chamberlain; DeSmet; Elk Point; Flandreau; Huron; Lemmon; Madison; Miller; Milbank; Mobridge; Parkston; Platte; Pierre; Rapid City; Redfield; Sioux Falls; Sisseton; Spearfish; Sturgis; Vermillion; Wagner; Watertown; Webster, and Winner.
