Isaacson, Hayner are students of the month Lindsey Isaacson and Andy Hayner were selected as the Vermillion High School Students of the Month for December. Their scholastic and extracurricular success will be rewarded with a $100 scholarship from First National Bank in Vermillion.
Isaacson's faculty endorsement said, "One of her greatest strengths is her ability to make connections between ideas in the literature we discuss and events in her life and world around her." She plans to attend a small, private Christian college with majors in music and Russian studies.
Her list of activities include band, debate, cross country, track, concert choir, Student Council, Natural Helpers, Dance Inferno, Rhythm in Red and school musicals. She was a National Honors Society member, Best of Class in band, and Girls State candidate. Her parents are Mary and Randy Isaacson.
Hayner "is always enthusiastic and ready to participate. He is a leader in classroom discussions and gives valuable constructive feedback to others in the class when they need help," according to his faculty recommendation. His academic goals are to study drama and English at The University of South Dakota.
His extra-curricular activities consist of wrestling, Drama Club, Natural Helpers, Student Congress, oral interp, and school plays. His honors include being the homecoming king, senior class vice president, and sophomore server. His parents are Kae Hayner-Stuhr and Rich Stuhr.
