Tanager JV defeats Parkston Trojans 46-21 by Jim Prosser The Vermillion Tanagers rolled over the Parkston Trojans 46-21 in boys basketball Jan. 3 at Parkston. The Tanagers shot 50 percent from the field in the contest.

The Vermillion JV remained unbeaten at 3-0.

Randy Kabambi scored 16 points, grabbed six rebounds and made two assists.

The Tanagers jumped ahead 10-4 after the opening period, went into the locker room up 26-9 at halftime, and then led 36-19 going into the final period.

"This was a great win on the road," said Vermillion JV coach Jon Ruevers. "We put together our first complete game of the year. Turnovers will need to be addressed, but overall I'm pleased with our progress."

The Parkston season mark fell to 1-3.

The Vermillion JV made 0 of 2 three-pointers and connected on 2 of 4 from the line. The Tanagers hit 22 of 44 field goals, while Parkston was 9 of 30 from the field. Parkston connected on 1 of 6 three-point tries and sank 2 of 9 free throw attempts.
