Warriorettes win their game in Hanson Classic by Ally Eckert The 20th annual Hanson Classic was the site of one of the closest games in the Wakonda Warriorettes' season so far.
The Warriorettes traveled to the Corn Palace in Mitchell on Saturday, Jan. 19 to face the Hanson Beaverettes. Hitting only 33 percent of their field goals, the Warriorettes came out the victors with a final score of 46-41.
Playing the first game in the classic at 11:30a.m., the girls proved that a long bus ride couldn't keep them down for long. Leading the girls was Nikki Johnston with a total of 14 points and six rebounds. Kim Henriksen helped with the win with a total of 9 points, eight rebounds, and five steals.
The Warriorettes lost in the first two quarters but tied up the score in the third. Making 13 points to Hanson's 8 in the final quarter gave the girls their win. Wakonda's record is now 5-4.
