Warriors overpower Baltic Bulldogs 68-42 by Bethany Parvin The Wakonda Warriors served the Baltic Bulldogs a conference loss as they hosted them Thursday, Jan. 8. Wakonda overpowered the visitors 68-42.
In the first quarter, Wakonda scored 14 to Baltic's 10. The second quarter belonged to the Bulldogs as they put in 16 to the Warrior's 10.
The Warriors came out of the locker room on fire and ready to put the Bulldogs back into the dog house. Scoring 24 points to the 14 points Baltic put up in the third quarter proved to be the beginning of the end for Baltic's hopes of a comeback. The third quarter ended 48-36.
The visitors finally gave up in the fourth quarter only scoring 6 points to Wakonda's 20; thus, ending the game, 68-42.
Wakonda's top scorers were Alex Nielsen, 21; Nick Skonhovd, 17; Tyler Moser, 15. Eric Skonhovd had 8 and Brandon Parvin had 3 while Brett Logue and Nick Peterson had 2.
Coach Ken Wright's Warriors had 20 offensive rebounds to the Bulldogs' 10.
In the defensive category Wakonda still pulled down two more than the Bulldogs, 26-24.
The Warriors' JV team also out-scored their opponents, the JV Bulldogs; 48-32. Leading scorers for Wakonda JV were Tyler Knudson with 12 points, Shaun Hessman added 9 while Robert Gregoire and Bo Martz both added 8 points. Adam Polley had 4 points, Ricky Rogers had a 3 pointer, and Mitch Hessman and Andy Peterson both had 2.
The varsity Warriors are now 4-1.
