Warriors soar over Flyers from Freeman by Ally Eckert After a break of almost two weeks from games, the Wakonda Warriors proved that even a vacation that long can't keep these boys down.
The boys traveled to Freeman Public on Jan. 6 and came out the victors with a final score of 49-34.
Wakonda played strong all four quarters, scoring more points in all but one. Senior Nick Skonhovd led the boys to victory with a total of 21 points and seven rebounds. Junior Alex Nielson followed with 13 points and nine rebounds.
Eric Skonhovd helped seal the win with four assists, followed by Nick Skonhovd with three.
The JV Warriors also triumphed over the Flyers with a score of 36-31. Shaun Hessman led with 13 points and four assists. He was followed by Tyler Knudson with 12 points and Bo Martz with three assists. Nick Peterson led the Warriors in rebounds with a total of eight.
The Warriors' record is now 4-1. The Warriors played Baltic on Thursday, Jan. 8 at home. They will next travel to Gayville-Volin for the Tri Valley Conference Tournament.
