Clubs Beauty shop guests attend 4-H meeting

The Jolly Juniorettes 4-H club met on Tuesday, Feb. 10 at the 4-H building kitchen. Katie Van Balen, vice president, brought the meeting to order. Austin Runyan led the Pledge of Allegiance. Cody Carr led the 4-H pledge. The roll call topic was "what your favorite holiday is." Sarah Mayer read the secretary's report and Cindy Dendinger gave the treasurer's report. Katie Van Balen and Jeanette Conway told everyone about the "Kids in the Kitchen" workshop they attended. Old business: Cyndi Dendinger handed out enrollment forms, 2003/2004. New Business: Clay County Fair dates for 2004 � Aug. 12, 13 and 14; State Fair dates for 2004 � Sept. 3-7; and Fashion Revue � June 30, 2004. 4-H fruit sales are underway. This is the club's only fund raiser. Fruit sales numbers need to be turned in by Feb. 27 to Cyndi or Colleen. The fruit will come on March 19 and we are looking for volunteers to help sort out the fruit at approximately 3:30 p.m. The fruit will be ready to pick up on Saturday, March 28, by 4-H sellers. A motion to adjourn the meeting was made by Teresa Dendinger. Sarah Mayer seconded it. Ellen Hanson gave a demonstration "Valentine's Day Fun with Gum" and provided Valentine's Day cupcakes and juice for snacks. Katie Van Balen gave a judging school in the Visual Arts area. Pictures were taken of club members with items brought for the Food Pantry, February Community Service Project. Lisa Johnson, from Vermillion Beauty Shop, showed the club a variety of hair care products available. The boys got treated to a new look, spiked hair, and the girls got a sparkly look, glitter hair. Everyone smelled good. Amy McComsey, from Vermillion Beauty Shop, talked about nail care. Many tips were given and the tools used in a manicure/pedicure were shown. Next meeting will be Tuesday, March 9, 7 p.m., at the 4-H Center. Marion Kryger will do a wood project; club members made their choice at this meeting of which item to assemble at the March meeting. Bring $10 and in the reminder notice the tools needed will be listed. Sarah Anderson will present a judging school. Community Service Project for March is to bring a cash donation (what you can afford) to help with food stand roof repairs. Reporter: Ellen Hanson
