Coyotes claim overtime win over St. Cloud State The South Dakota men's basketball team (15-7, 4-5 NCC) notched a 91-84 overtime victory over St. Cloud State Friday night at Halenbeck Hall in St. Cloud, MN.
South Dakota received outstanding games from senior forward Derek Paben, junior guard Josh Mueller and sophomore forward Turner Trofholz.
Paben scored a season-high 25 points and pulled down a career-high 11 rebounds, while Mueller broke out of his shooting slump to score 25 points.
Trofholz scored 9 of his 19 points in the overtime period, while also pulling down seven rebounds.
USD erased a 66-60 deficit with 1:32 remaining in regulation, sending the game into overtime on a lay-up by Mueller with 5.6 seconds left in the game, tying the game up at 66-66.
In the overtime period, USD outscored the Huskies 25-18, connecting on 12-of-13 free throws, which propelled the Coyotes to their fifth win in the last six games.
Senior forward Tommie King had 10 points and five rebounds, while junior center Steve Anderson grabbed 10 rebounds.
St. Cloud State was led in scoring by Alex Carlson, who had 28 points and six rebounds.
