Flynn shares NCC honor South Dakota freshman guard Jenni Flynn has been named the North Central Conference Co-Women's Basketball Player of the Week, according to an announcement by the league office on Feb. 16.
Flynn was honored with North Dakota senior Marisa Leighton, who averaged 32 points in a pair of UND wins at home. Flynn of South Sioux City, IA, had her first two career double doubles in leading the No. 17 Coyotes to consecutive key road wins at St. Cloud State and Minnesota State, respectively, on Feb. 13 and Feb. 14.
Overall, Flynn hit 61.9 percent from the field (13-of-21), including 50 percent (6-of-12) from 3-point range and 80 percent (8-of-10) from the foul line. The true freshman averaged 20 points and 11.0 rebounds from her guard position. She also averaged 4.5 assists and 2.5 steals.
Flynn had 21 points and 12 rebounds in the 90-77 verdict over St. Cloud State on Feb. 13. She hit 6-of-10 field goals and 8-of-10 free throws while doling out five assists, recording a blocked shot and registering two steals.
Against MSU-Mankato on Feb. 14, she again had a double double with 19 points and 10 rebounds in a 68-53 decision over Mavericks. She hit 7-of-11 field goals for 63.6 percent including 5-of-8 from three point range for 62.5 percent. She added four assists and 3-steals against Mavericks.
The NCC honor was the first of Flynn's career at South Dakota.
