Freshmen let fourth quarter lead slip away by Jim Prosser The Vermillion freshmen Tanagers lost a fourth-quarter lead and lost a tough one to the Lennox Orioles 30-27 in girls' basketball Jan. 23 at Lennox.

VHS had led by one after the third quarter.

"The girls really played hard," said VHS freshmen coach Heather Walker.

"Annika Sjolie stepped up her game and led the team."

The Tanagers trailed 12-4 at the end of the first period, trailed 17-9 at halftime, and then led 23-22 going into the final period.

The loss dropped VHS freshmen to a record of 0-2, while LHS improved to 2-0.

The VHS freshmen connected on 3 of 6 free throw attempts while the Orioles made 3 of 8 from the line.
