International forum Feb. 23 "Muslim Women and Freedom" will be the next topic of the International Forum to be held Monday, Feb. 23 at noon in the Newman Center, located across the street from the USD Coyote Student Center.
USD students (including two Fulbright scholars) from three Muslim countries will try to explain the issues involved.
Panelists include: Burcin Akgonul (Turkey), Sabohat Khalilova (Uzbekistan) and Sahar Zamir (Afghanistan.
Professor Benno Wymar (Economics/Emeritus), will moderate the event.
Much concern is being expressed regarding a possible loss of freedom for Iraqi women, should the new government be based on Muslim (Sharia) Law.
Afghan women suffered terribly, including loss of education and jobs, when Sharia Law was applied by the Taliban.
