Legion Auxiliary meets Wakonda American Legion Auxiliary Gingrich Dixon Unit #13 met on Saturday, Jan. 24 at Wakonda Heritage Manor with 13 members, one junior member and three guests present.
President Ruth Williams opened the meeting with the prayer, pledge of allegiance, and the preamble and then introduced Emma Jensen, our 2003 Girls Stater. Emma shared her experiences and pictures from Girls State 2003 in Vermillion. The group then enjoyed lunch served by JoAnn Ganschow and Ruth and Casey Hessman.
The meeting continued and the secretary and treasurer's reports were read and approved. Communications: Thank yous and a letter from District President Shirley Baker were read.
Old business: The members were asked to keep working on membership. We currently have 57 paid members.
New business: We are to play games at the Human Services Center on Feb. 26. There is a conflict with our Feb. 21 meeting date; it was the consensus to change the meeting to Feb. 28 at 10 a.m. We received the coming year's programs and what month each chairman will present a report. Discussion was held on honoring 40 year and over members, possibly at the Memorial Day program.
One bill was presented for payment; motion to pay and approved. Meeting adjourned and we closed with the Prayer for Peace.
The next meeting will be Saturday, Feb. 28, 10 a.m. at the Manor. We will work on the scrap book.
