Paben is co-NCC player Senior Derek Paben of the South Dakota men's basketball team (16-7, 5-5 NCC) was named Co-NCC Player of the Week, according to an announcement by the league office Monday.
Paben, who shared the honor with South Dakota State's Andy Moeller, averaged 25.5 points and 8.0 rebounds per game in USD's wins at St. Cloud State and Minnesota State over the weekend. The victories moved the Coyotes into a three-way tie for fourth place in the NCC at 5-5.
On Friday, Paben had 25 points and a career-high 11 rebounds against St. Cloud State. Against Minnesota State on Saturday, the Pickrell, NE, native poured in a season-high 26 points and connected on 6-of-10 three-point field goals.
For the weekend, Paben shot 60 percent from the field (15-of-25) and from the three-point line (9-of-15). At the foul line, the 6-7 forward hit 12-of-17 attempts (70.6 percent).
Paben and the Coyotes return to action Friday, Feb. 18 when they play host to North Dakota State, with tip-off at the DakotaDome at 8 p.m.
