"Coach Rosenbaum and his girls played a great game," said Vermillion coach Jamie Parish. "That might be the best game I have ever seen them play; I am quite impressed. Our girls played hard again, they have played hard throughout the year and sometimes the breaks just don't go your way."
The game was knotted 7-7 after the opening period, the Tanagers trailed 18-12 after the second quarter, and then trailed 30-26 after the third period.
The loss ended Vermillion's season with a record of 8-12, while Dakota Valley improved to 10-11.
Vermillion connected on 4 of 12 three-pointers and hit 6 of 11 free throw tries. The Tanagers connected on 13 of 46 field goal attempts, while Dakota Valley was 16 of 39 from the field. Dakota Valley connected on 3 of 6 three-pointers and sank 10 of 14 from the line.
