Tanager JV wins due to 'unselfish' play by Jim Prosser Performing well together as a team, the Vermillion Tanagers rolled over the Alcester-Hudson Cubs 62-41 in boys' basketball Feb. 16 at home. The Tanagers shot 54 percent from the field in the contest.

Andrew Pier scored 11 points and contributed seven assists and four steals. Randy Kabambi poured in 17 points and grabbed five rebounds.

The Tanagers led 19-11 after the first quarter, led 34-21 at halftime, and then held a lead of 53-28 going into the final period.

"We played a great game from start to finish," said Vermillion JV coach Jon Ruevers. "We played unselfish basketball with everyone giving 110 percent."

Vermillion improved its record to 11-3, while Alcester-Hudson dropped to 2-9.

Vermillion sank 1 of 3 three-point tries and sank 9 of 13 from the line. The Tanagers connected on 26 of 48 field goals, while Alcester-Hudson was 16 of 42 from the field. Alcester-Hudson sank 2 of 5 three-point attempts and hit 7 of 10 free throw tries.
