Tanagers shot down by NSC by Jim Prosser The Vermillion Tanagers were shot down by North Sioux City 65-24 in boys' basketball Jan. 30 at North Sioux City as the Tanagers shot only 18 percent from the field.
"We did not show up to play a very good Sioux City North team," said Vermillion JV Coach Jon Ruevers. "This game will be a learning experience that will make us better in future games."
The Tanagers fell behind 18-6 after the opening period, trailed 34-14 after the second quarter, and then trailed 50-19 going into the final period.
The Vermillion JV saw its record fall to 6-3, while North Sioux City upped its mark to 8-1.
Vermillion hit 0 of 3 three-point attempts and connected on 14 of 27 free throw tries. The Tanagers made 5 of 28 field goals, while North Sioux City was 29 of 52 from the field. North Sioux City sank 2 of 6 three-point tries and sank 1 of 3 from the line.
Vermillion JV was outrebounded 30-16.
