USD will host prep class, open house in Pierre The University of South Dakota will be taking its show on the road to Pierre on Feb. 10. USD will be hosting an open house and ACT prep class for prospective students, and an alumni event honoring their alumni in the Legislature.
High school juniors and seniors, along with their parents, are invited to an ACT prep class called "ACT4U" at 6 p.m. at the Best Western Ramkota. The class is a no-obligation workshop that lasts approximately one hour and provides students and parents the opportunity to learn test taking tips and strategies for the ACT as well as pick up practice tests and learn about online study resources.
In addition, qualified students will be accepted and admitted to attend USD at the event. Prospective students should bring a completed application, $20 application fee, and high school transcript. Application forms are available online at www.usd.edu/admissions or by calling 1-877-COYOTES.
There will be a University of South Dakota Showcase at the Best Western Ramkota from 5 to 7 p.m. Legislators, alumni and friends of USD are invited to attend and enjoy light hors d'oeuvres and beverages.
The theme for the alumni showcase is "Celebrating Alumni Leadership." Lt. Governor Dennis Daugaard and Speaker of the House Matthew Michels, both graduates of USD, will be presented with a certificate, a bottle of Old Main Wine, and a replica of the statue of Dr. William O Farber in honor of their service to the state.
Certificates and wine will also be presented to 22 other legislators who are alumni of USD. They include Sen. Lee Schoenbeck, Watertown; Sen. Tom Dempster, Sioux Falls; Sen.
