Vermillion freshmen demolish C-Hawks 54-7 by Jim Prosser The Vermillion freshmen Tanagers demolished the Canton C-Hawks 54-7 in girls' basketball Feb. 7 at Canton in a win ignited by a first-quarter blitz.
"We played with real teamwork and dominated every phase of the game," said VHS freshmen coach Heather Walker.
The Tanagers committed only 5 turnovers in the victory.
The Tanagers took the lead 16-0 after the first quarter, and margins of 20-2 and 5-4 in the second and third quarters boosted the lead to 41-6 going into the final period.
VHS freshmen improved its record to 3-3, while Canton dropped to 2-11.
VHS freshmen connected on 5 of 11 free throw attempts while the C-Hawks hit 1 of 3 free throw attempts.
