Coyote baseball drops two Saturday Satur The South Dakota baseball team (1-5) dropped a pair of games to St. Thomas Saturday morning at the Metrodome in Minneapolis, MN, falling 6-0 in game one, before being handed an 8-7 setback in game two.

In the opener, the Coyotes were held to just three hits, as junior righthander Justin Carey (Elkhorn, NE) was handed the loss for USD (0-1).

In game two, South Dakota held a 7-3 lead heading into the bottom of the sixth, but gave up five runs in the bottom half of the inning to drop a 8-7 decision.

Junior Brian Kungl (Anaheim, CA) took the loss for the Coyotes falling to 1-2 on the season. Sophomore Todd Schmidtke (Blue Earth, MN) led USD at the plate in the second game with two hits.

South Dakota returns to action Tuesday in Fort Myers, FL, when it takes on Ashland starting at 4 p.m.
