February visitor inquiries hit high South Dakota Tourism received 15,922 requests for visitor information in February 2004. Current inquiries for February are the highest recorded since 1999.
Potential visitors contact the Office of Tourism via telephone, written requests, e-mail and through an information request form on Tourism's consumer Web site, www.TravelSD.com. The majority of visitor requests are fulfilled with the South Dakota Vacation Guide.
Visits to TravelSD.com in February 2004 were up 54 percent compared to a year ago.
The Office of Tourism attributes the increase to expanded shoulder season and winter advertising campaigns as well as a recognition of South Dakota among travelers as a safe, affordable, family-friendly destination.
