"Hubert wrestled very well throughout the tournament," said coach Casey O'Connor. "With a close loss in the semifinals, he regrouped and focused on the remainder of the tournament. Hubert also had three pins throughout the tournament. He will continue to have a tremendous wrestling career for Vermillion High School.
"As for the rest of the team, I was very pleased with their performance," he continued. "Just qualifying for the state tournament is a statement. Carlson and Heine, both eighth graders and first time qualifiers, got to experience the state tournament for the first time. I believe the experience will motivate them to work harder and set goals for placing at next year's tournament.
"Hayner ended his Vermillion wrestling career this weekend," O'Connor added. "His leadership at practice, away on trips, and on the mat will be sorely missed."
