Local band to celebrate 25 years The Clay Creek Deaf Cowboy Bank will be hosting a celebration dance on Saturday, April 3 at the Eagles Club at 8 p.m.
Rick Martz, lead guitar and vocals, and Kirk (Sorney) Sorensen, bass guitar, began their part-time musical careers by playing at the same venue in the spring of 1979. They, along with drummers Skip Johnson (1979-1989) and Lee Schaffer (1990-1992) have entertained dancers in northwest Iowa, northeast Nebraska and the eastern half of South Dakota.
When asked what kind of music the band plays the common answer is "Both kinds, Country AND Western." While the band plays predominately country they also play "oldies" and southern rock.
The band currently includes rhythm guitarist and vocalist, Chad Peterson, vocalist, Dawn Nelson and drummer, Tom Zoss.
