Municipal League will hold meeting in Parker Municipal officials from throughout the 10 county area will come together when the city of Parker hosts the South Dakota Municipal League's District 3 meeting on Thursday, April 1.
The meeting, set to begin at 6 p.m. at the Parker Community Building, will include a social, dinner and informational program. More than 175 mayors, town presidents, councilmembers and city officials are expected to attend.
The program will include several items, including a recap of the 2004 legislative session and an overview of new laws affecting municipalities.
"In addition to covering several important pieces of legislation, these meetings provide a forum for our municipal officials to gather regionally to discuss common problems and interests, and to work together toward mutual solutions," said SDML Executive Director Yvonne Taylor.
Municipal officials will also have the opportunity to express concerns and interests with officials from state government, and representatives from the South Dakota Public Funds Investment Trust, the Health Pool of South Dakota, the SDML Workers' Compensation Fund, and the South Dakota Public Assurance Alliance.
The South Dakota Municipal League, the statewide association of South Dakota's cities and towns, has as its mission the cooperative improvement of
municipal government in South Dakota.
The Municipal League will hold district meetings in 10 South Dakota municipalities during the months of March and April.
