Obituaries Ralph Osmanson
Ralph Osmanson, 70, of Vermillion, died Thursday, Feb. 12, 2004 at his residence after a long battle with cancer.
Mr. Osmanson was born Sept. 6, 1933 in Huron to Ralph and Fern (Harrington) Osmanson. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War, and married Rose Marie Alber on April 23, 1959 in Groton.
Mr. Osmanson was a member of the Paralyzed Veterans of America, American Legion, and the Disabled American Veterans.
He is survived by his wife, Rose, of Vermillion.
There were no services. The Hansen Funeral Home in Vermillion handled the arrangements.
Marie E. Mahan
Marie E. Mahan, 84, Vermillion, died Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2004 at Los Angeles of heart failure.
Funeral Mass was 10 a.m. Monday, March 1, at the Cathedral of the Epiphany, Sioux City, IA, with the the Very Rev. Paul-Louis Arts and the Rev. Lawrence L. McCarty officiating. Burial was in the Calvary Cemetery, Sioux City.
Pallbearers were her grandsons Mark Wehde, Tim Wehde, Josh Flowers, Tim Mahan, Chris Mahan and Jon Mahan.
Larkin Northside Funeral Home, Sioux City, was in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Mahan was born Oct. 9, 1919, at Irene to John A. and Agnes (Healy) Christopher. She married Edward P. Mahan April 20, 1942, at Yankton. He died March 3, 1979, at Sioux City. She had lived in Sioux City until six years ago when she moved to Phoenix, AZ.
She then moved to Vermillion three years ago. She was a homemaker and housewife.
She was a member of the Cathedral in Sioux City and was an active volunteer for the church. She traveled extensively to be with her family.
She is survived by two daughters, Patsy (Ron) Wehde, Colorado Springs, CO, and Jeanne (Stephen) Flowers, Phoenix, AZ, four sons, Tim (Carole), Kansas City, KS, Tom (Janet), Charleston, SC, Ed (Tami), Charleston, and Mike (Karen), Sioux Falls; 22 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; three brothers, John Christopher and Gene (Pat) Christopher, both of southern California, and Jim (Darlene) Christopher, Humphrey, NE; and four sisters, Margaret Manning, Vermillion, Patricia Lyle, Beresford, Helen (JJerald) Bernard, Vermillion, and Magdalene Beeghley, Fremont, NE.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and one brother.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
