Tree pruning program focuses on preserving tree, shrub investment The Cooperative Extension Service of the South 2 Field Education Unit and South Dakota State University are sponsoring a program titled "Preserving You Tree and Shrub Investment." The program will be held on March 22 in Parker at the Turner County Courthouse and on March 24 in Yankton at the Lewis & Clark Welcome Center Midway Unit at Lewis & Clark Lake.
Both programs will run from 1:30 to 4 p.m. and will be the same at both locations.
Steve Munk, Extension educator � horticulture from Minnehaha County, will be the speaker. He will cover the importance of proper pruning techniques in maintaining the health, beauty and safety of your trees and shrubs. The presentation will cover how pruning can affect general plant growth, where, when, and how to make pruning cuts and the proper equipment to use.
Munk is a graduate of South Dakota State University and has been with the South Dakota Extension conducting horticulture programs in Minnehaha County and surrounding counties since 1981. He was involved in bringing the Master Gardener Program to South Dakota and has been recognized by the National Association of County Agriculture Agents and the Director of Extension for the quality of horticulture programs he has conducted.
