USD Business School accreditation renewed The School of Business at The University of South Dakota announced today that it has achieved reaffirmation of accreditation from the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business International (AACSB). Established in 1927, the School of Business at USD is the only accredited business program in South Dakota, having been continuously accredited since 1949.
To achieve accreditation from the AACSB, business programs must satisfy the expectations of a wide range of quality standards relating to strategic management of resources, interactions of faculty and students in the educational process, and achievement of learning goals in degree programs.
These standards are mission-linked. During the accreditation process, USD was visited and evaluated by experts applying accreditation standards that are widely accepted as the most stringent for business education. Most importantly this accreditation means that the business faculty at USD maintains qualifications equal to Michigan, Stanford, and the like.
Michael Keller, dean of the School of Business, said the accrediting team was particularly impressed with the level of student engagement with the faculty.
"They were really impressed by how much our students like going to school and how comfortable they were with their professors," said Keller. "They also noted the high quality of our student groups and the level of involvement the students have in them."
