USD women's tennis wins second straight The South Dakota women's tennis team improved to 2-1 with an 8-1 decision over Missouri Western in nonconference action on Feb. 27 at Four Seasons in Sioux City, IA.
USD captured five of the six single matches and won all three doubles matchups.
At No. 1 singles, freshman Maya Ristic (Vermillion) improved to 3-0 on the season with a 6-0, 7-5 decision over Mary Pankiewicz.
Leah Branaugh (Yankton) dropped the No. 2 singles match, falling to Mindy Busshborn, 2-6, 3-6.
At No. 3 singles, freshman Kinsley Powers (Rapid City,) won over Liz Beeson, 6-2,6-3.
USD also won at No. 4 singles as Michelle Hogan (Rapid City) defeated Amber Clutter by a score of 6-2,6-4.
At No. 5 singles, USD's Rachel Kludt (Huron) defeated Audra Scopen, 6-3, 7-5.
Rochelle Otto (Storm Lake, IA) won at No. 6 singles with a 6-3, 6-3 decision over Joanna Clark.
The No. 1 doubles team of Hogan/Powers defeated Beeson/Busshborn, 8-6.
At No. 2 doubles, Kludt/Branaugh defeated Pankiewicz/Jessica Welsh, 8-6.
Ristic/Otto won the No. 3 doubles with a 8-2 win over Scopen and Clutter.
USD is off until March 19 when the Coyotes travel to Minnesota State, Mankato.
