Baseball team suffers loss to Gamecocks by Jim Prosser Weather notwithstanding, it took a super pitching job by the Irene/Volin/Wakonda Gamecocks' Matt Rempp to shut down the Tanagers with a 2 hit, 1 run close out 5-1 baseball game win, on Monday, April 26.
With temperatures in the mid 50s, the Tanagers' Brad Schaack started and went 5 innings, giving up 3 runs on 3 hits and 4 walks, registering 2 Ks. He was relieved by Ben Oberle who allowed only 2 runs on 2 hits and 3 walks along with 2 Ks.
The team was unable to solve the pitching of Rempp and the excellent pitching by the Tanager pitching corps went for naught.
Line scores: Vermillion 1 run, 2 hits, 3 errors; I-V-W 5 runs, 5 hits, 1 error, 7 lob.
The Tanager run was scored by B.J. Campbell and hits were accomplished by Kyle Mollet and Jordan Anderson.
