Beresford Watchdogs shut out Tanagers

Beresford Watchdogs shut out Tanagers by Jim Prosser The VHS Tanager varsity played at Beresford on Sunday, April 18. The weather was threatening even though the temp was in the 90s with winds gusting to 40 mph.

If anyone could meet the ball, it was almost sure to be a hit to the outfield. Unfortunately, Beresford batters met the ball for 7 hits and took advantage of 6 free passes to outscore VHS varsity 12-0.

Kyle Mollet was the victim of the shutout. He allowed only 7 hits and walked 6 while registering 7 Ks and was charged with the loss.

His teammates were unable to figure out the Watchdogs' Tom Keiser who limited the Tanagers to 4 hits, while walking 3 batters and registering 3 Ks in the 10 run rule shortened game.

Line scores: Vermillion � 0 runs, 4 hits, 1 error, 5 lob; Beresford � 12 runs, 7 hits, 1 error, 1 lob.

Tanager hits were by Kyle Mollet, BJ Campbell, Ryan Mockler, and Ben Oberle.

Team record is now 2 � 5.
