Brown sets VHS record at Lennox

Brown sets VHS record at Lennox by Jim Prosser The Vermillion Tanager girls' track team placed fourth after competing with seven other schools in the Lennox Invitational held April 15 at the LHS Sports Complex.

A stunning VHS record in the 200M dash was established by Alicia Brown, who won the race in 25.8 seconds. Her win also qualified her for the state track meet.

Brittney Babb placed second in the 400M dash.

The field events included a fourth place finish for Jacque Smidt in the shot put. The Tanagers' Anne Carlson scored points placing second in the triple jump and third in the long jump.

Brittney Gilkyson was fourth in the 800M run. Emily Renner was third in the 1600M, and Katarina Gombocz won the 3200M run (12:28.7).

The 4x100M relay team was third (Nicki Nelson, Anne Carlson, Ariel Hofman and Alicia Brown); and second place was claimed by the 4x200M relay team (Nelson, Roche, Heine, and Brown).

The 4x400M relay team finished in second (Babb, Gilkyson, Brooks and Heine). The medley team comprised of Nelson, Roche, Heine and Brooks won the race in 4:39.

The Tanager girls' team's points totaled 86 for fourth place.

Lennox, Madison, West Central, Canton, Tri Valley, Howard and Harrisburg were the other teams in the meet.
