"Serving as a member of the Vermillion City Council would be a great privilege and honor and a way that I can work with the other city council members and the citizens of our great city to tackle some of the issues that face our community. My philosophy has always been to listen to the needs and concerns of the people. They hire and fire their elected officials and need to be taken seriously.

"If elected, I pledge to hold listening meetings for the citizens living in the Central Ward so they will have an opportunity to tell me what they think about Vermillion and to receive suggestions for ways to improve our great city. We want to make this a city where people will want to live, to go to school and to raise their families. If that is our goal, then we must make sure that whatever actions our city council and its employees take will work to make Vermillion a truly great city. Anyone who has a concern, question or suggestion may e-mail me at medelen44@email.com or call me anytime."
