Hanson awarded prestigious scholarship Kristopher Hanson, son of Mike and Laurie Hanson, Wakonda, has been awarded the prestigious Pro Musica Music Scholarship from Augustana College in Sioux Falls. Hanson was one of a lucky few awarded the largest music scholarship for the next four years. Hanson along with over 200 others, auditioned in February. He auditioned in two categories, trumpet and voice and was awarded the scholarship for voice.
He will be a member of one of the Augustana choirs, and take voice lessons, as well as participate in the concert band, pep band and brass choir. Hanson plans to major in music performance and religion with the hopes of someday being in the music ministry field, or possibly a missionary.
He is a senior at Yankton High School where he is currently in the wind ensemble, pep band, second edition jazz band, accapella choir, swing choir, and is in the musical Les Miserables. Hanson along with other members of the YHS Marching Band will march in the Cherry Blossom Parade in Washington, DC, on April 3.
Hanson also received an academic scholarship from Augie for his HS GPA, and a congregational scholarship from his church, Pleasant Valley Lutheran. He is the grandson of Yvonne Davis, Viborg, Shirley O'Dea, Yankton, and Dan Harrison, Gig Harbor, WA.
