Health Foundation topic at club meeting The Wakonda Community Club held its regular monthly meeting at noon on Wednesday, April 7.
Finalizing plans for the Saturday, April 10 fund raiser took only a short while as a three-person committee had done a great job of contacting members. Work schedule sign up sheets were passed around.
Of special interest to the group was a short presentation by Jerry Soholt, executive director of the Avera Health Foundation.
He presented some comments relative to the local Wakonda Community Health Foundation which will be operating under the umbrella of the Avera Health Foundation. He talked about the number of similar foundations that are, and have been, in operation within the framework of the Avera Health System.�
He also made introductory remarks as to the ways of foundation support as well as to the spectrum of assistance that the foundation offers.
Dave Hutchinson, local high school principal, gave information about the importance of the recent testing that has just been done at the school.�
He also reviewed items on the school agenda, such as track, golf, school play, prom, etc.
Sheryl Smith, administrator of Heritage Manor, reminded everyone of their "Spring Fling" scheduled for Sunday, April 18, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m.�
There will also be an open house of one of the apartments in the assisted living area.
The Manor has also set the week of June 13-18 as the time for celebrating the its 25th anniversary.�
In other items the club set the dates of May 3-8 for town clean up.
The next monthly meeting will be Wednesday, May 5.
