Osborne is NE Ward city candidate Kent Osborne has announced his candidacy for the Northeast Ward.
Osborne has lived in Vermillion for over 20 years, and has worked at South Dakota Public Broadcasting during that time. His expertise has been sought at the local, state and national levels.
In 1999-2001, he chaired the PBS Web Developers Subcommittee. From 2002 to 2004 he has served as chairman of the PBS Information Technology Steering Committee.
He is currently the webmaster of South Dakota Public Broadcasting's multi-award-winning Web site, SDPB.org.
Osborne is married and has three children in the Vermillion Public Schools. He has been active in Cub Scouts for five years, and has been Cubmaster for Vermillion Cub Scout Pack 165 for the last two years.
He is a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and Sunshine Aerie No. 2421 of the Vermillion Fraternal Order of Eagles.
"I am not a classically trained politician, but I have spent a number of years in Pierre observing them," Osborne said. "My listening skills and the ability to find creative solutions to problems are what I can bring to the job.
"The city council in Vermillion has lost credibility with many of its citizens in the past few years," he said. "I think I can make good decisions and help get the council back in touch with its citizens.
