Pons was granted the certificate of clinical competence in audiology by the American Speech and Hearing Association in 1978. He received the AAA Scholar Award from the American Academy of Audiology in 2000 and 2004, from the American Speech Language Hearing Association in 1985, 1997 and 2000.
