Pons granted audiology certification Kevin C. Pons, M.A., C.C.C.-A has been granted board certification in audiology. This certification demonstrates a commitment to professional excellence in audiology by Pons.

Board certification in audiology is designed to identify and formally recognize those audiologists whose knowledge base and clinical skills are consistent with the highest professionally established standards. By entering into this voluntary certification program.

Pons demonstrates his commitment to achieving and maintaining high professional standards and to remain current in the latest audiology developments and issues.

Board certification in audiology assists the consumer in recognizing those individuals who have completed standardized education and training and who continue their professional development.

The board or certification in audiology program is administered by the American Board of Audiology for the express purpose of certifying audiologists. The American Board of Audiology began granting certification of audiologists in January 1999.

Melanie Herzfeld, Au.D., current board chair, said, "The willingness on the part of a busy audiologist to take this extra step in demonstrating professional excellence is to be commended. I congratulate Mr. Pons on his professionalism."

Pons was granted the certificate of clinical competence in audiology by the American Speech and Hearing Association in 1978. He received the AAA Scholar Award from the American Academy of Audiology in 2000 and 2004, from the American Speech Language Hearing Association in 1985, 1997 and 2000.

Pons currently sees patients at Yankton Medical Clinic, P.C., Vermillion Medical Clinic and Freeman Community Hospital.
