Redbirds compete in Beresford Quadrangular by Jim Prosser On Thursday, April 15 the Vermillion Middle School girls' track teams joined Akron-Westfield, and EP-J as they participated in the Beresford MS Quadrangular meet.
The placers for the eighth-grade girls were:
In field events: Shot put � Katie Kashas (fourth) and Shalita Bartlett (sixth); discus � Kashas (fourth), Kayla Anglin (fifth), and Stephanie Town (sixth); long jump � Kelly Miskimins (sixth). In the 100m hurdles � Calle Sorenson placed fifth.
In the dashes: 100m � Alexa Walker (first) 13.86, Miskimins (fourth), and Mary Anne Bierle (sixth); 200m � Walker (first) 29.1, and Margaret Mueller (fifth).
Distance runs: 800m � Erin Rasmussen (fifth); 1600m � Rasmussen (third) and Sasheen Thin Elk (fourth).
The 4×200 relay placed first with members Miskimins, Mueller, Chelsea Allen, and Walker).
First place went to the 4×100 relay (Miskimins, Mueller, Bierle, and Walker).
The seventh graders had placers in the following:
Field events: Long jump � Justine Sorenson (first); high jump � Kayla Gale (first 4'0".
In dashes: 200m � Kayla Gale (second), Karissa Martin (third), and Sorenson (fourth); 400m � Anna Moos (third), and Cassie Schaffer (fifth).
Long distance runs: 800m run � Rebecca Girlinghouse (first) 3:16.2; 1600m run � Girlinghouse (first) 6:36.
The 4x100m relay placed first with runners Gale, Mila Hugo, Sorenson, and Martin. The other relay teams were second � 4x200m ( same four runners as 4x100m); and third � 4x400m (Schaffer, Darcie Been, Lorraine Walsh, and Moos).
