Senior Spotlight

Senior Spotlight by Bethany Parvin Nicole Elizabeth Johnston was brought into this world by Rocky and Kim Johnston. She prefers to be called Nikki though; she says Nicole is just there to make her look more professional. You may also hear friends call her N.J. Nikki has two siblings, Corey, 25; who lives in Arizona, and Kelli, 13.

"Everyone in my life has been inspirational; without all of them I wouldn't even be half the person I am today. Thank you to everyone who has made me the person I am."

Nikki says it's hard to choose just one memorable moment because her high school career has been a memorable one. She wouldn't trade any of her memories in for the world. But winning basketball districts two years in a row was probably one of the better moments she's had.

Her favorite teacher memory happens almost every day in Mr. Bak's class. "He's a funny guy even when he's trying not to be," says Nikki.

Nikki will be attending Si Tanka University at Huron while majoring in nursing and playing basketball with a scholarship.

NEJWI is her favorite saying, "Not Easy Just Worth It." This sums up Nikki's work ethic and commitment to the many activities in which she participated.

In high school, Nikki has participated in basketball four years, volleyball four years, track three years, Teens-in-Action, four years, band four years and Character Counts, two years.

"I don't really think I'd change anything because it's been a lot of fun, but I suppose if you made me choose one thing I'd say that I would have spent more time 'in' my classes and not wandering around the halls like all my teachers seem to think I do," she said.

Nikki's ambitious attitude and bright smile will definitely be missed in the hallway next year.
