Mens' league report
The Men's league team scramble is on May 6 Captains must have their team name and rosters in to Rusty or Eric by that time.
Regular league competition begins on Thursday, May 13 with a 3 p.m. shot-gun start, first session, and 6 p.m., second session. The summer league season will run every Thursday. The same scoring system is in effect for 2004. Match is worth 2 points (one for each session), medal is worth 2 points (one for each session), each hole won is worth 1 point (9 per session), and 1 point added for total medal 23 points available each week. Ties will be worth 1/2 point per team. In the event of a forfeit, the offended team will be awarded their average points per week for the season.
NOTE: THIS IS A HANDICAP LEAGUE AND EVERY PLAYER MUST HAVE A GHIN HANDICAP. New members should establish a handicap ASAP (it takes about 10 nine-hole rounds to accomplish this).
Senior golfers battle
wind at The Bluffs
Thirty-nine senior golfers asked the question, "When will the wind stop blowing?" knowing full well that in South Dakota it may never stop blowing on Tuesday's Senior Golf Day.
We were happy to see Duncan McGregor, Roger Kozak, Elmer Mount, Quentin Oleson, Jim Stewart, Mo Marcotte and Ardell Hatch for the first time this season. They will be back regularly.
Our winners this date were a four-man team of Shorty Hanson, Jim Grabowski, Roger Kozak and Maurice Erickson with a fine score of 38. Congratulations to you for a fine effort.
Also at 38 we had Elmer Mount, Ted Van Bruggen and Pat Boyle; Harlan Schott, Cleland Cook and Howard Connors; Pete Berglund, Jim Reed and Duncan McGregor, and Mo Marcotte, Lloyd Helseth and Quentin Oleson.
Other winners at 39 are the teams of Sid Davis, Dan Christopherson and Ardell Hatch along with Don Baer, Ken Beringer, and Berwyn Svoboda.
It sounds like a log-jam at 38. The teams are often this closely bunched at the end of our round.
We will see you each Tuesday for good golf and good fun at The Bluffs.
Shots of the day on April 27 were birdie putts on #17 by Elmer Mount and Howard Connors on #12. Even old-timers get lucky now and then.
