VMS girls host quadrangular April 22 by Jim Prosser Last week ago, Thursday, April 22 the seventh and eighth grade girls track teams faced Beresford, Lennox and Harrrisburg in an unscored Quadrangular meet.
The VMS placers for the eighth-grade girls were: In field events: Long jump � Kelly Miskimins (third), Marcy Anne Bierle (fourth); shot put � Shalita Bartlett (fifth), Katie Kashas (sixth); discus � Kashas (fourth), Bartlett (fifth), and Kayla Anglin (sixth). In the 100m hurdles � Calle Sorenson, and Rachel Odens placed third and fourth in that order.
In the dashes: 100m � Alicia Brown (first) 13.84, Miskimins (third), and Alexa Walker (fourth); 200m � Margaret Mueller (second); 400m � Sasheen Thin Elk (fourth), and Stephanie Town (sixth).
Distance runs: 800m � Erin Rasmussen (first) ,Thin Elk (third); 1600m � Emily Renner (first) 5:59.2, Rasmussen (third).
The 4×200 relay placed first with members Mueller, Chelsea Allen, Walker, and Brown. First place also went to the 4×100 relay (Miskimins, Allen, Walker, and Brown); and the 4x400m relay team also garnered a first place (Walker, Renner, Thin Elk, and Brown).
The seventh-graders had placers in the following:
Field events: Discus � Emily Holoch (sixth); long jump � Justine Sorenson (third), and Zazzee Coleman (fourth); high jump � Kayla Gale (first) 4'6". In 100m hurdles � Cassie Schaffer (second).
In the dashes: 100m � Coleman (fifth), Mila Hugo (sixth); 200m � Gale (first) 30.62 sec., Karissa Martin (third), Sorenson (sixth); 400m � Anna Moos (ssecond), Lorraine Walsh (fifth), and Darcie Been (sixth).
Long distance runs: 1600m � Rebecca Girlinghouse (first) 6:48.
The 4x100m relay team placed second with runners Gale, Hugo, Sorenson, and Martin. The 4x200m relay team placed third with the same four runners as 4x100m. Schaffer, Beene, Walsh, and Moos were the members of the 4x400m relay team which finished in third place.
