Baseball team ends '04 season on a high note by Jim Prosser On Friday, May 14, in the varsity game at McCook Lake sports complex in Dakota Valley, the Tanagers finished with a 7-10 season record.
By winning four of their last five games, they were poised for the region tournament which was scheduled to begin on Monday, May 17, at Alcester.
The game against the Panthers was a mixture of some good/some bad play by both teams. The Tanagers prevailed as Jason Donald pitched a steady six-inning complete game giving up four runs (one earned), on three hits, a BB, and registering eight Ks.
The visitors had a slow start and fell behind 2-1 in the first inning (both teams committed errors and each had a hit batter). The Tanagers tied the score with an unearned run in the second, then put on a hitting spree while scoring in bunches (three in the third, five in the fourth, two in the fifth, and five in the sixth) to easily outpoint the home team 17-4.
The Panthers also contributed to the scoring by committing seven errors.

Offensive stats include two players who scored four runs each! Jared Burcham went 1 for 2, with an rbi, (on base hit by pitcher twice and a base on balls); and Zach Weiss � 2 for 3 hits, one rbi (a walk and fielder's choice). Kyle Mollet went 1 for 4, three runs, one rbi; Collin Prosser was 2 for 3, one run, two RBIs; Brad Schaack � three runs on 2 for 3 batting and two RBIs; Donald aided the cause with a run scored and an rbi going 2 for4 hitting; Sam Laprath scored a run going 1 for 4 at bats.
