Consecutive wins improve VHS baseball team’s season

Consecutive wins improve VHS baseball team's season by Jim Prosser Lightning flashes and rumbling thunder put a stop to the festivities last Wednesday, April 28, in a game played against Harrisburg at Prentis Park in Vermillion.

The result had already been determined as the home team took advantage of the wildness of three Tiger pitchers at the plate which accumulated seven walks and two hit batters, resulting in a 10-2 win for the Tanagers. The team backed them up with an unusual no error fielding anomaly!

Jason Donald won his first game of the season with a steady pitching performance, throwing a four-walk, six-hit, two-run effort. He registered five strikeouts in the six-inning victory.

Line scores: VHS 10 runs, 5 hits, 0 errors, 5 lob; HHS 6 hits, 2 runs, 5 errors, 6 lob.

With so many base runners, you can expect a whole bunch of scoring but not many offensive stats. Leading the scoring onslaught were: Ben Oberle 1 for 3, 1 run, 1 rbi; Kyle Mollet 1 for 2, 2 rbis; B.J. Campbell 1 for 4, 1 run; Jordan Anderson and Brad Schaack 2 runs each; Jared Burcham 2 for 3, 2 runs, 2 rbis; Zach Weiss and Donald each scored a run.

The varsity team season record improved to 4-7.
