Gregoire breaks Wakonda record Wakonda High School sophomore Robert Gregoire broke the WHS boys' 3200 meter run record last Friday night at Howard Wood.
The Class "B" State cross country champion proved that he belongs with the big boys as he ran a 9:58.55 time in this two-mile race.
Earlier this year, Gregoire had already broke the old school record of 10:20.4 held by Jeremy Christensen since 1993. Gregoire's record-setting time in that race was 10:18.
Last Friday's event was a tough race, since all individual events at Howard Wood Relays showcase the best in all classes combined into one race. Gregoire placed 14th with this time. He also ran the mile run with a time of 4:44.31.
Also competing at the prestigious Howard Wood Relays were Brett Logue in the triple jump, 39'10" and in the long jump, no mark.
Sophomore Tyler Knudson ran the 110 meter hurdles in 18.54. The already state qualifying relay team of Eric Skonhovd, Jason Holoch, Rob Gregoire, and Nick Skonhovd placed eighth in the 3200 meter relay with a time of 8:40.4.
