Tanager girls earn third in Mitchell golf invite by Jim Prosser The Tanager girls' golf team, facing a 15-high school team tournament at Mitchell, on Friday, April 30, came off with third place among the 10 class 11AA schools and five class 11A teams competing.

Coach Kirk Hogen thought the competition was comparable to a state meet and played on a difficult 18-hole Lakeview Municipal golf course.

"We were able to score well, as a complete team, against some of the best teams in the state," he said.

The top four out of five scores gave Vermillion a total of 365 for 18 holes.

Individual Tanager scores were: Jackie Thomas � 84 (seventh); Chelsea Gauer � 91 (17th); Anna Isaacson � 93 (20th); Sarah Christopherson � 97; Paige Prosser � 108; and Sara Mayer � 109.

There were nearly 90 participants and the tournament team scores were: Brookings � 341; RC Stevens � 351; Vermillion � 365; Mitchell � 369; Brandon Valley � 378; Aberdeen Central � 379; Pierre � 386; Sturgis � 386; Watertown � 389; Huron � 390; Madison � 410; Todd County � 415; Yankton � 417; Lennox � 419; and Winner � 433.
