VHS boys compete in Booster Club meet by Jim Prosser The Elk Point-Jefferson Huskies felt right at home as they outpointed the Tanager boys 148-144 to claim first place at the VHS Booster Club Qualifier Track meet Saturday, May 8.
Tri Valley placed third (108) and Scotland was fourth (104). The other teams invited to the meet were: Dakota Valley, Bon Homme, and Akron-Westfield.
Tanager scorers in field events were: Donnie Stewart � first in shot put 48'8.25"; Kellen Cusick � second; Discus � Jordan Anderson, second; Cusick, sixth; Tyler Brown � sixth in high jump. Chris Tiegen finished second in the 300m hurdles.
For the dashes: 100m � B.J. Campbell, first (11.5); Janek Panneitz, fourth. 200m � finishing first, third, and fourth � Ben Oberle (23.2), Brown, and Campbell, in that order. 400m � Oberle won (50.7) state qualifier; Chad Teigen placed third and Caleb Berry was fifth.
Distance runs: 800m � Justin Manning won (2:06.7); 1600m � Justin Manning won (4:47.7); 3200m � A.J. Manning came in sixth.
Relays: 4×100 � first, 46.5 (Campbell, Chad Teigen, Cusick, Maxwell Swanson); 4x200m � first, 1:49.5 (Campbell, Chad Teigen, Brown, Oberle); 4×400 � first, 3:34 (Brown, Teigen, Teigen, Oberle); 4×800 � fourth (Casey Carlson, A.J. Manning, Brody Stone, and D.J. Donahoe); Medley � fifth (Panneitz, Berry, Swanson, and Carlson).
