April's Ag Advice by April Borders With the recent weather that we have been experiencing, producers are faced with making some critical cropping decisions. In order to help producers be more informed and aid in these decisions, there will be an Emergency Planting Decisions Meeting on Monday, June 7. The meeting will be from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. and will be held in the meeting room in the basement of the Public Safety Center, 15 Washington St., Vermillion.
We have assembled specialists from South Dakota Cooperative Extension Service to help answer some of your questions. Bob Hall, Extension crops specialist, will be available to discuss planting and replanting options; Marty Draper, Extension plant pathologist, will discuss seedling diseases; and Leon Wrage, Extension weed specialist, will discuss herbicide options, carryover for replanting and herbicide post applications.
We will also have crop insurance representatives and FSA representatives available to answer any questions and concerns that you have in these areas.
This meeting is open to the public and is free of charge. The program is being put on by April Borders (Clay County) and Steve Sutera (Bon Homme) agronomy Extension educators in the South 2 Field Education Unit and they will also be available to answer your question.
